How many of you live in the greater Fredericksburg, VA area and have enjoyed the natural tranquility of the Rappahannock River on occasion? Probably most of you in one way or another, whether it be fishing, canoeing, swimming, tubing, or just relaxing on the banks on a lazy afternoon. Have you ever thought about what it would be like if the Rappahannock River became so polluted that it became unusable? If so, join me and my voice in supporting the Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) in preserving the health and picturesque nature of the Rappahannock River. One way that I enjoy to support the Friends of the Rappahannock’s efforts while enjoying a fun night out with good company, is through sponsoring the annual Riverfest. Riverfest “is the annual fundraiser for FOR’s advocacy, restoration and education programs” and is a wonderful way to give back to your community.

If you’ve never been to Riverfest, you are missing a blast of an evening with really good people; but most of all you are NOT assisting the efforts of saving the scenic Rappahannock in your own backyards. This year Riverfest will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 4pm-8pm at Fraley Vale Farm, overlooking the breathtaking Rappahannock in King George, VA. Come enjoy a cold one and crack a crab or two while listening to live entertainment alongside the Rappahannock. For the non-crab eaters, if there are any in Fredericksburg, there will also be ribs, chicken, and veggies for the liking. There will even be a silent auction with an array of items that you could end up walking home with. Sponsorships are still available and start at $250 for 2 tickets, which includes name recognition in the advertising at Riverfest. Individual tickets start at $100. Tickets are still available for Riverfest, but are ONLY sold in advance, so the time to get your tickets is now! Additional sponsorship packages and ticket information can be found out www.riverfriends.org Come on out September 19th and join me in supporting this noteworthy cause. I’ll see ya there!

The Chancellorsville Area in Spotsylvania County, VA

Chancellorsvillecanons1Why live in the Chancellorsville area in Spotsylvania County, VA you ask? Why would you not, I say! The Chancellorsville area is an unincorporated community within Spotsylvania County and offers the quiet remoteness that many of us seek when looking for homes for sale, without being too far “off the beaten path.” Whether you have a large family with school age children or are retirees looking for some peaceful tranquility, the large lots that are available within most of the communities in this area are perfect for anyone. There are still lots available in this area as well, if you are considering building a brand new custom home. For available lots and land you will want to look into the subdivisions of Avalon, Glen Haven and Stonegate Estates. A brand new community is also slated to open this summer of 2013 off of River Road called River Glen. Most of the Chancellorsville area is accessible by way of River Road, Spotswood Furnace Road, US Ford Road, Elys Ford Road and State Route 3 West; all the while being just minutes from everything anyone would need in Central Park, Spotsylvania Towne Centre, or Route 3. Many of the neighborhoods offer scenic views of the Rappahannock River in the fall and deer and other wildlife in your backyard. Not only are most of the homes on nicely sized lots in this area, but according to the latest Spotsylvania County School District lines, your children would attend the most coveted high school that the county has to offer, Riverbend High School. Located off of Spotswood Furnace Road, Riverbend is currently Spotsylvania County’s newest school.
